The people behind the photographs!

At Art for All, we strive to support and collaborate with real, live creative people over anonymous and AI-generated imagery on the internet. One of the joys for me of this project has been perusing the photos of local photographers for images to paint from.

I had a vague idea that my neighbor Laura Koh took bird photos but I was blown away when I took the time to look at her Instagram account: @Kobrio_laura

Below on the left, is Laura’s photo of a heron, and on the right, is one of our artists, Steve, painting of the photograph.

And do you know that one of our Select Board members, Terri Ackerman, is an accomplished photographer? Check out her website: Eyes of the World

On the left is a photo of Terri, holding the piece of the mural, “Our Farms: Past and Present” which she painted two years ago. In the middle is her photograph of a woodpecker, and on the right is a painting of her photograph by Dorrie Karlin, librarian at West Concord’s Fowler Library.

Chris Price is best known as Vice Principal and math teacher at Willard School, but she is also a board member, a contributing painter at Art for All, AND an avid photographer!

On the left is a photo of Chris, in the middle is her photograph of the sky, and on the right is a painting of her photograph by Nancy Rae.

Many of the photographic references for the paintings on the mural border and the Paintings of the Trail Exhibit have come from the photo albums of Sudbury Valley Trustees. See more photos on their website by navigating to the page NEWS and then to Nature Sightings. Through the SVT photographs, I discovered Nancy Wright. Her photos of local wildlife on Writpix are such a pleasure to peruse!

On the left is a photo of Nancy Wright, in the middle is her photograph, and on the right is a painting of her photograph by Margot Kimball.
