Our Local Farms, Past and Present

Our Local Farms, Past and Present celebrates
farms and farmers in the vicinity of West Concord.

The artists of Art for All designed the six and a half by eleven and a half foot mural. Their design was divided into a grid of 199 tiles. 127 people, including artists, non-artists, and people with special needs painted the 6x6 inch tiles. The tiles were assembled by the artists of Art for All and the staff of Crosby Design. The mural now hangs on the side of Saltbox Kitchen at the corner of Beharrell Street and Commonwealth Ave. in West Concord.

Concord has long been a town with an agricultural focus. With as many as 200 farms in the 17th century, it maintains that heritage today with over 18 farms. Though lower in numbers, the farms of Concord have rich histories, some being in the same family since the days of Emerson and Thoreau. today, Concord has a number of beautiful farm stands where people can purchase local produce, fresh flowers, or just stop in for a visit.
